1. Jerusalem Foundation
The Jerusalem Foundation, Israel’s largest municipal foundation in Israel, has announced that its Board of Directors appointed Shai Doron, CEO of the Tisch Family Zoological Gardens in Jerusalem, as its new president. The Foundation’s Board of Directors, chaired by David Brodet, made the selection at the end of last week and Doron will commence his role in the coming months, replacing Yohanna Arbib-Perugia who recently announced her departure.
2. HerzLilienblum
Last Thursday, a new exhibition opened at the HerzLilienblum Museum called “The Zionist Side of the Coin, 1947-1954,” which displays the economic hardships and dilemmas leaders faced during Israel’s early years. The exhibition features photographs, texts and rare items. Senior economic executives from the past and present attended the event, including: Yossi Bachar, Discount Bank chairman; Lilach Asher-Topilsky, Discount Bank CEO; Hezi Kalo, director-general of the Bank of Israel; David Brodet, chairman of Bank Leumi; and Irit Izakson, chairperson of First International Bank.
3. Israel from space
Jim Bridenstine, the head of NASA, who is on his first official visit to Israel, visited the Bloomfield Science Museum in Jerusalem last weekend where he toured the new On The Edge exhibit. The exhibit, which deals with risk taking, is an Israeli-French collaboration. Bridenstine presented museum director Maya Halevy with a picture of Israel that was taken from space.
4. Industry leader
President Reuven Rivlin and Minister of Economy and Industry Eli Cohen awarded the Industry Leader award to a number of industrialists at a festive event at the President’s Residence in Jerusalem last week. Receiving this honor were: Stef Wertheimer, Yossi Vardi, Dan Propper, Sami Sagol, Maxine Fassberg, Yehuda and Zohar Zisapel, Giora Ackerstein, Rim and Imad Younis, Shimon Eckhouse and Morris Kahn.
5. Gymboree in Sderot
Sderot Mayor Alon Davidi hosted Minister of Construction and Housing Yoav Gallant this past week at a kids’ Gymboree in Sderot. Gallant was participating in a support tour of southern Israel with JNF CEO Russell Robinson, who loves to visit sites sponsored by JNF. The Gymboree in Sderot is the first protected children play center ever built in the world.
