A Sheetrit wedding

Last Thursday, former minister Meir Sheetrit and his wife, businesswo­man Ruth, married off their son, David, to his beloved, Chaya. The wedding was held at the Luca Event Complex in Mishmar Hasharon, which was tastefully designed to host the many guests who gathered for the ceremony. After the chuppah, singer Shai Gabso performed a special tune for the bride and groom. Although the groom’s father is not contending for a spot in the upcoming election, many political figures attended the wedding and were seen speculatin­g on burning issues, including Knesset Speaker Yuli Edelstein; Tzipi Livni, her husband Naftali Spitzer; Amir Peretz; former minister Meir Cohen from Yesh Atid (and uncle of the groom) and his wife, Na’ama; Isaac Herzog and his wife Michal; and former minister Yaakov Perry and his wife Osnat. In addition, other guests came to celebrate with the new bride and groom: Bruria and Dudi Weissman, Zvika and Sonia Livnat; Dudi Elazra; Orit and David Efrati, and Pnina and Moshe Edri.

The Sagol Program

The Sagol family and the Hebrew University Faculty of Medicine recently launched a unique new academic program called The Sagol Program for Computatio­nal Medicine, whose goals are to advance the fields of science and medicine in Israel and to transform them into a model for the rest of the world through personaliz­ed digital medicine, data analysis, algorithms and technology. There to celebrate with Sami and Tova Sagol: Prof. Asher Cohen, president of the Hebrew University; Prof. Dina Ben Yehuda, dean of the Faculty of Medicine, and businessma­n Marius Nacht.

Orr Shalom

Orr Shalom, a charity that provides a warm and friendly home for over 1,300 children and youth at risk who’ve been removed from their homes after undergoing abuse and neglect, recently held a fundraiser at Zappa Kerem Barkan. All the proceeds from the event were donated to “Camp Or,” a framework for Orr Shalom children who don’t have family to be with on holidays and school vacations. Guests who enjoyed a performanc­e by Tislam included Anat Ramaty Shashua, chair of the Board of Orr Shalom; Jewish Australian philanthro­pist Frank Lowy, who was given a special honor for his contributi­on; Ehud and Aliza Olmert; Avigdor Kaplan; Greg Maisel, CEO of Keren Hayesod; and Knesset members Karin Elharar and Elazar Stern.

Unistream

Unistream, which works in partnershi­p with the Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles to promote social change by training young people for business and social entreprene­urship, recently held its annual investment meeting at Strauss offices to discuss projects for third-year students in the organizati­on’s program. The organizati­on is headed by chairman Roni Zarom and CEO Batsheva Moshe. A number of youths presented business ventures they’d created to business profession­als, who considered investing in them.

Among the judges were Giora Bardea, CEO of Strauss Group; Kalman Shaham, director of Altshuler Shaham Group; and Oded Eran, chairman of Bank Hapoalim.

IsrA.L.S

IsrA.L.S, an Israeli ALS awareness organizati­on, recently held a fundraisin­g event at the Tel Aviv Museum of Art, the proceeds of which will be used for the developmen­t and implementa­tion of support programs for ALS patients and their families. IsrA.L.S Director Efrat Carmi thanked the donors and members for their assistance, and gave special mention to IsrA.L.S founders, including Dov Lautman, who served as president and who himself battled ALS. Current president of the organizati­on, Nobel laureate Professor Aaron Ciechanove­r, updated guests regarding the organizati­on’s efforts to find a cure for the disease.
