3. MUST INNOVATE

A new and promising collaboration was launched in Dubai. Aviv Scientific, the Israeli company which leads the field of research and treatment in the aging process, is establishing a medical center in the United Arab Emirates. The 7,000 square meter medical center, which will focus on treating and optimizing brain and body performance, is the second Aviv Clinic in the world, the first having opened in Florida in 2020. The opening of the center symbolizes a new era of cooperation between the United Arab Emirates and Israel in advanced medicine and is one of the first examples, in practice, of the implementation of the Abraham Accords and the normalization of relations between the countries.

A number of senior officials from Israel and the United Arab Emirates attended the launch of the new center in Dubai, including Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and CEO of Emirate Airlines and Group; Sultan Ahmad Ben Sulayem, Chairman of the Dubai International Trade Authority and Chairman and CEO of DP WORLD; Awad Sagir Al Ketbi, Director-General of the Dubai Health Authority; the new Consul General of Israel in Dubai, Ilan Stulman-Starosta; Prof. Shai Efrati, Director of the Sagol Center for Hyperbaric Medicine and Research at Shamir Hospital (‘Assaf Harofeh’); and Michael Lobel, one of the founders of Aviv Scientific and director of business operations at the company.

Nili Lotan born and raised in Tel Aviv. Lotan’s influences remain rooted in her upbringing, inspired by a love for fashion from an early age. After graduating from

Shenkar College of Engineering and Design in Tel Aviv, Lotan moved to New York where she lead design teams for some of the industry’s most iconic names, including Ralph Lauren, Liz Claiborne and Nautica. With her design studio, flagship store and home in TriBeCa, Lotan’s work is shaped by the intimacy and neighborhood experience of New York City. In the spring of 2020, Lotan introduced NILI LOTAN  NEW YORK in response to the global health crisis facing New York. Feeling compelled to support her city, Lotan established a program and ongoing commitment to donate 15% of profits from limited edition product to NYULangone Hospital in support of frontline medical workers. Taking further steps to help the community at large, Nili developed a subsection of her website solely dedicated to using her platform for something greater. In April, inspired by her desire to love and to give, she launched Nili Lotan Giving Back, a shoppable digital archive of past collections for up to 70% off. This follows the abundance of support she had received from women from around the globe who resonate with the collection and wish to afford it. Each month, 10% of the subsite’s profit will go towards a cause or organization that is giving back to communities in need. Nili’s website is www.nililotan.com

5. MUST STARTUP

Jason Williamson, vice president and global head of ‘Oracle for Startups’ and ‘Oracle for Research’, hosted Israeli entrepreneurs from Oracle’s startup program in Israel for an intimate online round table, to discuss entrepreneurship, innovation and Startup Nation. The event was held in honor of Yom Ha’atzmaut (Independence Day).

Williamson told his guests that Israel was the last place he visited outside of the US, just before the pandemic, and that he was eager to come here again as soon as he could.

“Israel is a very important region for us, we are doubling down our efforts on the ground to help you get to our global teams and to the resources available for startups at Oracle”, he said.

He also mentioned the Israeli Cloud Region that Oracle is building in Jerusalem, as the

First global cloud provider to establish a local data center in the country, which would serve enterprises at all size.
