Leon Syfrit
Iwas born in 1968 and grew up in Wilmington, Delaware. My mother made art, and my father was a chef, so the visual and culinary arts were influential from an early age. I like the idea that my life experience filters through my art. The creative process is how I make sense of who I am and my place in the world. My work uses found and collected objects to make still-life and portrait photographs. I also enjoy documentary photography and alternative photographic processes. I exhibit my art globally. My work has been included at The Philadelphia History Museum, among other institutions. In addition, I have received grants from The Helene Wurlitzer Foundation and other organizations.
I was awarded internationally by The Sony World Photography Awards, and my work has been published in international publications such as Adore Noir Magazine and Monovisions Magazine.
I have graduated with a BFA from The University of the Arts, and an AFA from The Delaware College of Art and Design, followed by teaching photography at The Delaware College of Art and Design and The Somerset Academy in Las Vegas.
