FROM THE EDITOR’S DESK

The Jerusalem Post Magazine - - CONTENTS -

Dear Readers, Life in Israel is never boring, and, true to form, it has been a tumultuous year, yet an exciting and productive one. While Hamas found innovative methods such as incendiary kites to terrorize the Israeli populace, our strong soldiers, intelligence and advanced defense technologies in areas such as drones and cyber-tech continued to keep casualties to a minimum. We were alarmed by the increase in global antisemitism, finding the mass shooting in Pittsburgh particularly shocking. We rejoiced as Netta Barzilai took home the gold for Israel at Eurovision. The US under the Trump administration proved to be a good friend indeed – withdrawing from the UN Human Rights Council, in part because of bias against Israel, and, of course, moving its embassy to Jerusalem, putting the American stamp of approval on our capital and lighting the way for other countries to do the same. While internal debate over core issues such as the Nation-State Law threatened to divide us, we all came together as one Koolulam voice to celebrate 70 years of independence. Soaring into 2019, we can stand proud and confident in all we have accomplished. With thanks for your continued loyalty (please keep those letters and talkbacks coming!) and best wishes for a happy and healthy new year,
