Shin Shifra laid to rest in TA
Israeli poet and scholar Shin Shifra, who died at the age of 80 on Thursday, was buried at the Yarkon Cemetery in Tel Aviv Sunday, next to her husband, Matityahu Shmulevich.
Shin Shifra (her pen name) won many prizes for her work, including the President’s Prize for Literature in 2004.
She was known for her poetry, fiction, children’s books and translations of Sumerian and Akkadian literature, and lectured on ancient Near-eastern literature at Tel Aviv University.
