Il V&A sbarca a Shenzhen / The V&A Lands in Shenzhen
Tra le mostre inaugurali del gigantesco Design Society – il nuovo polo culturale di oltre 70mila mq appena nato a Shenzhen da una partnership tra il China Merchants Shekou Holdings e il Victoria and Albert Museum – non poteva mancare un percorso espositivo tratto dalla collezione permanente del noto museo londinese: la mostra Values of Design (aperta fino al 4 agosto nella V&A Gallery), progettata dallo studio Sam Jacob, è il risultato di tre anni di ricerche approfondite e di dialogo interculturale con i professionisti e gli studiosi cinesi del design. L’idea è esplorare la relazione che intercorre tra il concetto di valore e quello di design attraverso un’esposizione di oltre 250 oggetti tratti dalla vasta collezione permanente del V&A e provenienti da 31 Paesi diversi. Sette i temi-guida: performance, costi, problem solving, materiali, identità, comunicazione e meraviglia. (IG)
Among the inaugural exhibitions of the Design Society – the new 70,000-sqm cultural centre recently born in Shenzhen out of a partnership between China Merchants Shekou Holdings and the Victoria and Albert Museum – there is an exhibition drawn from the permanent collection of the famous London museum. Values of Design (open through 4 August inside the V&A Gallery), designed by Sam Jacob Studio, is the result of three years of research and intercultural dialogue with Chinese design professionals and scholars. The idea is to explore the relationship between the concept of value and that of design, through 250 objects drawn from the vast permanent collection of the V&A and originating from 31 different countries. Seven themes guide the selection: performance, cost, problem solving, materials, identity, communication and wonder.
