È conto alla rovescia per l’anniversario del Bauhaus. Nei 14 anni della sua esistenza – dal 1919 al 1933 – questa importante scuola tedesca con sede prima a Weimar poi a Dessau e Berlino ha inventato metodi che hanno influenzato intere generazioni artisti e progettisti, determinando anche l’estetica del tempo. Il compleanno coincide con l’apertura del nuovo Museo Bauhaus a Dessau, progettato dallo studio catalano Addenda Architects (González, Hinz e Zabala), che ospiterà i circa 40mila pezzi di cui la Bauhaus Dessau Foundation dispone ma che non ha mai avuto lo spazio per esporre. Altro nuovo luogo dedicato è il Museo di Weimar progettato da Heike Hanada e Benedict Tonon dove verranno trasferite le collezioni della Klassik Stiftung Weimar (l’ex Museo Granducale di Weimar), tra le raccolte storiche di grafica più prestigiose. L’ultimo nuovo “contenitore” (aprirà però nel 2021) è la torre di vetro alta cinque piani di Staab Architekten che amplia l’Archivio di Berlino costruito da Gropius nel 1979. (AP)
2019 will mark one hundred years since the Bauhaus came into being. In the 14 years of its existence – from 1919 to 1933 – this important German school, based first in Weimar, then in Dessau and later in Berlin invented methods that influenced whole generations of artists and designers, and introduced a whole new aesthetic for the age. The anniversary coincides with the opening of the new Bauhaus Museum in Dessau by the Catalan studio Addenda Architects that will house the 40,000 items the Bauhaus Dessau Foundation holds, but which it has never had the space to exhibit. Another new related site is the Museum of Weimar, by Heike Hanada and Benedict, the new home of the collections of the Klassik Stiftung Weimar (formerly the Grand Ducal Museum of Weimar, top graphic art collection). The last new “container” (due to open in 2021) is the five-storey glazed tower by Staab Architekten. It will create additional space for the Berlin Archive built by Gropius in 1979
