A MUSEUM DEVOTED TO THE POLES

LO STUDIO D’ARCHITETTURA REIULF RAMSTAD ha vinto il concorso per l’ampliamento del Fram Museum nella penisola di Bygdøy (Oslo), nato nel 1936 per ospitare la gloriosa nave omonima. Grazie alla nuova ala intitolata Framtid (in norvegese futuro), il museo potrà estendere la sua proposta di educazione e salvaguardia ambientale. Caratterizzata da semplici volumi allungati perpendicolari all’acqua, l’estensione dota il museo non solo di nuovi spazi espositivi, ma anche di aree comuni, auditorium e caffetteria. THE REIULF RAMSTAD ARCHITECTURE STUDIO won the competition to design the expansion of the Fram Museum, on the Bygdøy peninsula (Oslo), founded in 1936 with the aim of housing the glorious ship of the same name. Thanks to the new wing named Framtid (future, in Norwegian), the museum will be able to extend its offering when it comes to education and environmental protection. Characterised by simple elongated volumes perpendicular to the water, the extension equips the museum also with an auditorium and a café.
