THE ALÁBRIGA HOTEL, ON THE COSTA BRAVA, TASTEFULLY REINTERPRETS THE CODES OF MEDITERRANEAN STYLE.

When Mediterranean style is mentioned, familiar solutions come to mind, more or less original interpretations of the local vernacular. But it is challenging to try something different, leaning more in the direction of luxury without breaking the spell. One successful attempt can be seen at the Alábriga Hotel, an exclusive 5-star luxury facility in Girona, Spain, where the colors of the context, refined materials and lively works of contemporary art form a setting of remarkable flair, in the most authentic Costa Brava spirit. The spaces, including 29 suites, feature dappled black marble and soft velvets in vivid hues, or an ideal dialogue between leather seats and tables with gilded legs. The sculptural volumes set the tone of the spaces, created in close collaboration by the Spanish architect Rita Rius, at the helm of Arena BCN, and Studio Rubelli. Marco Attisani, sales director in Italy for the Rubelli group and creator of Studio Rubelli, explains: «At first we were asked to work on the choice of fabrics. Rita Rius set a number of clear guidelines. Then the teamwork spread into other activities, which is happening in more and more of our projects. With Studio Rubelli interior decorators can find someone who speaks their language, ready to interpret needs of personalization, especially when it comes to furnishings. In the case of the Alábriga, Studio Rubelli focused on interior design, from the lamps to the carpets». Of course the protagonists are creations by Rubelli and Donghia. Ana Bouza, the architect from Studio Rubelli who worked on this project, underlines the choice of a neutral palette of blue, turquoise and earth tones: precisely the colors of Costa Brava.
