Upper Engadine. A three-story house becomes a vacation residence for a young family, thanks to a renovation conducted by Diego Turani, who has gained space by altering the internal layout, leaving the exteriors intact. «The main effort was in the basement, creating 500 m2 of technical and

storage that bring spaces, the landscape as well as inside», the swimming the designer pool, says. thanks The to theme large of glazings nature extends to furnishings and materials, starting with wood as the main decor presence. At the entrance rugged fir paneling sets the tone. «It is a type of wood used for outdoor surfaces, but I liked the rustic impact in this place where one arrives in ski boots. The f loor is also rugged, in hewn Fex stone». The walls of the living area are in hewn fir, while the floors are in heat-treated oak (from Albino Pozzi of Colico). The wall of the custom fireplace features a Wall&decò covering depicting the nearby mountain peaks. The kitchen table and stools are custom pieces in apple wood. Sliding doors separate this space from the dining room, which offers fine views of the landscape. This zone features a Florinda suspension lamp (by Modo) designed by Annarosa Romano and Bruno Menegon. An “invisible” staircase leads to the upper level, containing five bedrooms (and bathrooms) and a playroom for watching films and listening to music. A new addition to the basement is a pool measuring 15 x 7 meters, in stone from Val Fex, with resin cement walls on three sides and large windows open to the lake. The ceiling is in stained pine, like a Finnish sauna, with a custom lamp by Catellani & Smith.
