Tradition, identity and food
A few meters above the arrival station of the Champoluc- Crest cable car, at an altitude of 2020m, there is the Hotel Crè Fornè. Here guests can reach the hotel after leaving their cars at the base of the mountain and reaching altitude via the lifts that run continuously from 8.45am to 5pm with additional rides at 6pm, 7.30pm, 10pm and 11.30pm. The structure was originally meant to be a mountain lodge but it has since been transformed into a consolidated hotel that keeps the tradition of welcoming guests strong while offering them an opportunity to bond with the surrounding nature in an active environment. The owner, Nello Abate, transformed his mountain passion into a lucrative business inspired by sustainable principles and dedicating great care to creating strong identity that would focus on design, innovation and comfort. The renovations converted this hotel into a very special place that highlights the sensations of warmth and intimacy that a lodge inspires while not forgoing modern lines and design. The eighteen rooms have a typical mountain charm, the wood element is consistent throughout each construction and creation. The kitchen, open every day to all guests and visitors, has deep ties to the local products of the region and traditional recipes. Wellness facilities are present as well, and these are an integral part of the structure as by design by the architect Leonardo Macheda, who has been working on the Hotel for quite some time. The creation of a new area means that it is now distributed on a ground floor and lower level and has yet to be entirely completed but clients can now enjoy a Finnish sauna with benches strategically placed so as to move around between the temperatures that vary from 85° to 100°, a Vitarium sauna heated at 55° to 60° that is ideal for women and a Turkish bath that reaches 100% humidity and where essential oils are heated along with curative herbs. The innovation in this project is due to the design that uses contemporary materials such as steel and glass, the end result is one that reflects transparent volume and which is able to create strong bonding with the surrounding alpine landscape throughout the bright changing seasons.
