A luxury Resort in Chianti Valley

-

Nestled among the lush hills of Chianti, in the small town of Castelnuovo Berardenga, is the Borgo Scopeto Relais, the center of the story we want to tell in this article. In 2010, the structure caught the attention of director Gary Winick, who, kidnapped by the authenticity and uniqueness of the Borgo, immediately decided to make it the location of his film "Letters to Juliet", a comedy capable of enhancing the beauty of the place, whose first documents mentioning it date back to 1079. In the fifteenth century the settlement was donated to the noble Sienese family of Sozzini, who founded a thriving farm mainly dedicated to the cultivation of vines and of the olive tree, never abandoned. The first official bottle of Chianti Classico from Borgo Scopeto was produced in 1990. In 1997 it was a woman, Elisabetta Gnudi, who bought this jewel, transforming it into a home of pure luxury, using precious materials. selected: stone, terracotta, marble, travertine, wood of the exposed beams. Its 58 rooms combine the unmistakably historic characteristics of the estate with all the comforts of modernity and innovation. Each room differs from the other, some have an independent entrance, others give the guest a splendid view of olive groves and vineyards, but all jealously preserve the original characters of its historical period, which blend with the natural and uncontaminated landscape that it stretches around for miles. A soft embrace that encompasses all shades of green and includes the 482 hectares owned by the family, of which 400 hectares of forest, 6,500 olive trees and seventy hectares of vineyards (with a production of about 350,000 bottles per year). The new winemaking and aging cellar, located a few kilometers from the Borgo, allows the entire production process to be rationalized and kept separate from the hotel business. Finally, the estate is embellished by an enchanting Roccolo, the eighteenth-century garden once dedicated to the noble art of falconry and adorned with centuries-old dwarf oaks and rare plants. Ten kilometers from Siena, in Borgo Scopeto Relais, the perfect recipe for a true and complete well-being starts from food and wine, the main ingredients both at the table and in the SPA, located right in the ancient stables of the estate, renovated ad hoc.
