The watch. A collective representation and vision of the world, which measures the unmeasurable: time, and is transformed into a highly precise item of jewellery. Such is the architectural design of A. Lange & Sohne’s 1815 Chronograph, with a reduced diameter from 40 to 38.5 mm, and a large date display, the Saxid Outsize Date, balanced with reflective prisms and mirrors in Perspex. The red glimmer of the ceramic case (45mm) and bezel of the Big Bang Unico Red Magic is a sight to behold, artistically rendered in classic Hublot Fashion. The Excalibur Aventador S Blue (45 mm), made of C-SMC carbon, is the result of a high-powered partnership between Roger Dubuis and Lamborghini Squadra Corse. With a total of some 312 elements, the watch features casing and crown that are overmoulded with rubber, the fluted carbon bezel uses blue markings, while the skeletonised dial reveals double sprung balances. The "engine" is a Duotor RD103SQ movement, set in a system of shaped supports. Cascata by de Grisogono has a persuasive charm. Enveloped in a fine gold wire mesh with 126 brilliant-cut diamonds that support the bezel’s 72 oval-cut gemstones, inside it features a dial embellished with 148 white gold set gems, and a casing that is sculpted with diamond spirals. The dance of the hours meets Bulgari with Diva Finissima Minute Repeater, and permeates inside a thin casing dial made of Japanese Urushi lacquer studded with gold specks, creating an interplay of transparencies with a depth effect that delivers a radiant surprise. A creative work of art limited to ten masterpieces, it also features a diamond-set pendant which oscillates with the movements of the wrist. Its rounded softness is enhanced by a snow pave dial and 18 kt rose gold crown with diamond. The secret of moon-phase complications is embodied in Harry Winston’s Premier Precious Moon Phase Automatic 36mm, made of 18-karat white gold with a brilliant blue aventurine (but also Havana) dial, but also rose gold (18 kt). A play on perspective draws the eye to the eight diamonds (set on a raised aventurine platform) and towards the three-dimensional white mother-of-pearl moon motifs (and its related phases, from new moon to full moon), set on a pearly blue or brown starry sky.
