Fin dal primo sguardo è chiaro che si ha davanti un Frauscher. Lo stile è inconfondibile, ma c’è qualcosa in più, qualcosa che va oltre la barca e completa il percorso che il cantiere austriaco ha iniziato diversi anni fa. Il nuovo 1212 Ghost è l’anello mancante tra il Demon 1414 e il Frauscher 1017 GT, che va a inserirsi nel combattutissimo segmento di mercato dei 12 metri. Le grandi prese d’aria laterali, che erano già state presentate sul 747 Mirage e poi sul 1414 Demon, richiamano i due modelli cult del cantiere e caratterizzano il design dell’imbarcazione. In 12 metri il cantiere ha voluto realizzare un daycruiser puro, in grado di lasciare l’armatore liberto di trascorrere anche una notte o un finesettimana fuori in mare.
Una sfida importante per il cantiere, che presenta questo modello con in primis l’obiettivo di esaltare le prestazioni e il comfort di navigazione. L’esperienza del designer Harry Miesbauer – con un background anche nel mondo della vela – che si è occupato dello scafo e delle linee di carena, ha avuto un impatto importante per esempio nel lavoro di distribuzione dei pesi, che è stato eseguito con moltissima attenzione. Il risultato è una barca stabile ed equilibrata a tutte le velocità, in grado di toccare i 46 nodi in completa sicurezza. Questo è fondamentale per godersi le prestazioni in tutto e per tutto. Su come si comporta in mare ci torneremo più tardi. Ora vediamo com’è pensato sopra e sotto il nuovo Frauscher 1212 Ghost.

COPERTA L’eleganza è uno degli elementi chiave di questa imbarcazione. Frauscher si è rivolta nuovamente a Stephan Everwin, designer austriaco che aveva già lavorato alla 1017 GT Air. Non è un caso che a bordo di 1212 Ghost siano evidenti i richiami al settore dell’automotive. Un design minimale, senza fronzoli, per un armatore che non ha bisogno di una barca con gli effetti speciali. Eppure state certi che, all’arrivo in porto, un Frauscher come il Ghost non passerà certo inosservato. In sintonia con la tendenza del mercato a preferire quelle barche a motore che permettono un facile contatto con l’acqua, la parte poppiera è caratterizzata dalla generosa plancetta con funzione di spiaggia privata, il tutto rivestito in teak con profilatura “aperta” delle murate. Un tocco più sportivo che si amalgama al meglio con il profilo generale dell’imbarcazione. In mezzo ai due prendisole, un camminamento per arrivare in pozzetto senza calpestare le cuscinerie. navigazione, in modo che sia facilmente raggiungibile all’occorrenza. Al centro, due tavolini modulabili per trasformare in pozzetto in una zona pranzo, coperta dal tendalino a scomparsa. Per aprirlo, basterà attivare elettronicamente il sistema che alza il pannello che copre i motori.
In una manciata di minuti il tendalino sarà pronto e funzionante (e in altrettanti potrà essere rimesso a posto), grazie a un meccanismo semplice e funzionale. La plancia di comando ha la timoneria in posizione centrale e quel gusto da sportiva classica che le danno i vari indicatori analogici, come il contagiri, serbatoio e temperatura dei motori. Il grande plotter posto subito sotto il timone permette di tenere sotto controllo le mappe, i dati e lo stato della barca durante la navigazione in modo semplice e soprattutto comodo.
Visto da prua, il mix tra prua verticale, parabrezza senza cornice e l’intera coperta di prua in teak rende il 1212 Ghost un vero instant classic. Un 12 metri pensato come barca da crociera giornaliera, ma che offre anche la possibilità di trascorrere una notte o più a bordo. Sotto il ponte di prua si nasconde, infatti, un’alta cabina che, grazie al tavolo abbattibile (elettricamente), è versatile e pratica, per trasformarsi all’occorrenza da dinette in un’elegante cabina armatoriale. Le stesse proporzioni sono state conservate anche per la toilette, dotata anch’essa di un alto soffitto.
MOTORIZZAZIONE E NAVIGAZIONE Amanti delle prestazioni sull’acqua, con questo Frauscher troverete pane per i vostri denti! Fino ad ora ci siamo limitati a descrivere quali sono le caratteristiche, estetiche e pratiche, di questa barca.
Ora passiamo alla parte saliente: come naviga il nuovo 1212 Ghost. Con due Volvo Penta D6 da 440 cavalli (ciascuno) entrofuoribordo raggiungere i 40 nodi: è bastata una manciata di istanti, per la precisione 16 secondi. In pochi altri si è toccata la velocità massima di 46 nodi, mentre i motori giravano a 3.750 giri ciascuno. Anche con la barca veloce, però, si può chiacchierare in pozzetto o dietro il parabrezza, stando seduti ai comandi. Affianco al sedile di chi ha il volante tra le mani è, infatti, posizionata una seconda seduta.
La barca in virata, anche quando si naviga ad alta velocità, risponde sempre trasmettendo una piacevole sensazione di controllo e stabilità, in grado di far divertire molto gli armatori più esperti e sentire sicuri quelli con meno esperienza in navigazione. Buona parte del merito di questo risultato va ascritta al designer dello scafo Harry Miesbauer, dell’omonimo studio di design. La barca può installare a bordo, in alternativa ai due motori Volvo Penta, anche una coppia di motori a benzina Mercruiser entrofuoribordo da 430 cavalli.
IT IS CLEAR THAT YOU ARE FACING A FRAUSCHER from the very first glance. The style is unmistakable, but there is something more, something that goes beyond the boat and completes the path started by the Austrian shipyard many years ago.
The new 1212 Ghost is the missing link between the Demon 1414 and the Frauscher 1017 GT which is part of the hard-fought 12-meter market segment. The large side air intakes that were already introduced on the 747 Mirage and the 1414 Demon recall the two cult models of the shipyard and characterize the design of the boat. Within just 12 meters, the shipyard wanted to create a pure day cruiser capable of offering the possibility to spend even a night or a weekend at sea. This was an important challenge for the shipyard presenting this model with the primary aim of enhancing performance and comfort.
The experience of designer Harry Miesbauer, who took care of the hull and hull lines, with a background also in the world of sailing, had an important impact, for example, in the weight distribution work that was carried out with great attention. The result is a stable and balanced boat at all speeds, capable of reaching 46 knots in complete safety. But before talking about sailing performance, let’s focus for a while on its structure.
DECK Elegance is one of the key elements of this boat. Once again, Frauscher turned to Stephan Everwin, an Austrian designer who had previously worked on the 1017 GT Air. It is no coincidence that the references to the automotive sector are evident aboard 1212 Ghost. A minimal, no-frills design for an owner who doesn’t need a boat with special effects. Yet rest assured that a Frauscher like the Ghost will certainly not go unnoticed.
In tune with the current market trend to prefer motor boats with easy contact with the water, the stern part is characterized by a generous private beach club, all covered in teak with an “open” profiling of the
sides. This sporty touch perfectly blends with the overall profile of the boat. Between the two sundecks there is a walkway to get to the cockpit without stepping on the cushions. The central area of the boat is characterized by a large C-shaped sofa that hides several storage compartment, all easy to reach during navigation. In the middle, two modular tables transform the cockpit into a dining area, covered by a retractable electrically-operated bimini top. The latter is easy and fast to open. The helm station has the wheelhouse in a central position and various analog indicators, such as the tachometer, tank and engine temperature ones. The large plotter placed immediately under the helm allows the captain to keep maps, data and the status of the boat under control during navigation in a simple and comfortable way. Seen from the bow, the mix of vertical bow, frameless windshield and the teak bow deck makes the 1212 Ghost a true instant classic boat. A 12-meter cruiser, which also offers the possibility of spending a night or more on board. In fact, under the foredeck there is a high cabin which, thanks to the foldable electric table, can transform from a dinette into an elegant mastern cabin if necessary. The same proportions have also been preserved for the toilet, distinguished by a high ceiling.
ENGINES AND NAVIGATION Until now we have decribed the aesthetic and practical characteristics of this boat. Now let’s move on to the salient part: how the new 1212 Ghost navigates. Two Volvo Penta D6, 440 HP each, make the boat reach a speed of 40 knots in just 16 seconds. In a few others, the maximum speed of 46 knots is reached, at 3,750 rpm. Even when runnign fast, however, you can chat in the cockpit or behind the windshield, while sitting at the controls. A second seat is, in fact, positioned next to the pilot seat.
When turning at high speed, the boat is always perfectly safe, stable and under control. Much of the credit for this result goes to the hull designer Harry Miesbauer, of the homonymous design studio. As an alternative to the two Volvo Penta engines, the boat can be fitted with two 430 hp Mercruiser sterndrive petrol 460HP engines.
