Che barca a motore scegliereste per andare a vivere a bordo? Prendete una classifica qualsiasi e troverete quasi sempre un Grand Banks. Nel tempo il cantiere ha costruito intorno a sé una fama di barca molto accogliente e allo stesso tempo in grado di navigare anche nei mari più inospitali. Non è da meno il nuovo Grand Banks 54, che nasce sulla falsa riga del GB 60, la sorella maggiore, con l’obiettivo di ampliare il pubblico di questo genere di barca. Questo 18 metri in stile classico nel design sfrutta tecniche di costruzione e materiali all’avanguardia. In questo senso, c’è un ampio uso della fibra di carbonio completamente infusa per i ponti e la sovrastruttura allo scopo di abbassare il centro di gravità. Uno scafo robusto, ma leggero, in grado di consumare poco nelle lunghe traversate, ma anche di resistere al mare formato. Lo scafo è quindi semi-dislocante con lo scopo di rimanere nell’acqua e tagliarla, coerentemente con la linea che ha avuto inizio con il GB60. Il risultato è uno scafo che lascia poca scia. Quella minima scia significa che poca energia viene sprecata creando onde e spingendo l’acqua. Per gli interni troviamo una cucina inferiore, la cabina armatoriale a metà nave e una cabina VIP a prua. Gli spazi interni sono eleganti e rifiniti con un alto livello di artigianalità. Non manca lo spazio protetto all’esterno tra pozzetto di poppa e flybridge da cui si può mettere facilmente in acqua il tender. Il pacchetto motore standard è dato da una coppia di Volvo Penta D11s da 725 cavalli di potenza. L’affidabilità di funzionamento e i bassi livelli di suono e vibrazioni sono gli elementi che hanno portato il cantiere a sceglierli. Il GB 54 sarà in grado di navigare 1.000 miglia nautiche a 10 nodi, con una velocità di crociera veloce stimata intorno ai 27 nodi con il carico al 70%.

WHICH MOTORBOAT WOULD YOU CHOOSE TO LIVE ON BOARD? Take any ranking and you will almost always find a Grand Banks yacht. Over time, the shipyard has built around itself a reputation as a manufacturer of very welcoming boats, able to navigate in the most inhospitable seas. The new Grand Banks 54 is not exception. Based on the same than the GB 60, the new entry wants to expand the public of this boat type. This 18-meter classic-style boat uses cutting-edge construction techniques and materials. In this sense, there is extensive use of fully infused carbon fiber for the decks and superstructure in order to lower the center of gravity. The sturdy yet light hull is able to consume little fuel while withstanding the harshest sea conditions. The hull is therefore semi-displacement with the aim of remaining in the water and cutting it, consistent with the line that began with the GB 60. The result is a hull that leaves little wake and, therefore, delivers better performance.
The interiors offer a fully-equipped galley, a master cabin amidships and a VIP cabin on the bow deck. Spaces are bright and elegantly finished. There is also a protected space outside between the aft cockpit and flybridge to launch a tender.
Power comes from twin Volvo Penta D11 725 HP engines. The reliability of operation and the low levels of sound and vibrations are the elements that led the yard to choose them. The GB 54 will be able to sail 1,000 nautical miles at 10 knots, with a fast cruising speed of around 27 knots with 70% load.
