L’adventure boating è oggi uno stile di vita e il profeta degli “axopariani” ha sicuramente il volto di Jan-erik Viitala. L’imprenditore nordico per eccellenza, dotato di un’etica del lavoro e di una fiducia assoluta nei propri mezzi, arriva dal mondo delle auto. Prima della nautica, Viitala ha lavorato per una delle più grandi concessionarie di auto finlandesi, la Kayttoauto, dove ha fatto carriera fino a dirigere il marchio BMW all’interno dell’azienda. Le barche, però, le aveva sempre in testa. Già nel Aquador, che aveva iniziato la sua attività un po’ prima, nel 1995. Parlavamo di un gran lavoratore? Ebbene, i primi passi di Jan-erik li ha mossi nel “tempo libero” dall’automotive, dedicando la sera e i fine settimana all’allora neonato brand finlandese Paragon, situato non lontano da dove viveva a Vaasa. Il progetto è andato bene (tanto che Paragon è stata comprata dal gruppo Nimbus nel 2008) e intanto Viitala aveva messo le mani anche in XO Boat, venduto poi ad un’altra azienda finlandese. L’ultimo passaggio è Aquador, che aveva iniziato la sua attività un po’ prima, nel 1995. Dopo Viitala ha tutti gli elementi per creare la sua barca: L’A-XO-PAR.

A quintessential Nordic businessman with a strong work ethic and unwavering self-confidence, Viitala hails from the automotive world. Before venturing into boating, he worked for one of Finland's largest car dealerships, Kayttoauto, eventually overseeing the BMW brand. However, boats were always on his mind. Even during his tenure at Aquador, which he began in 1995, Viitala was already envisioning his path in the boating industry.
Is he a diligent worker? Indeed, Jan-erik's initial foray into the boating realm occurred during his "leisure time" away from the automotive sector. He dedicated evenings and weekends to the then-fledgling Finnish brand, Paragon, situated not far from his residence in Vaasa. The project succeeded (Paragon was acquired by the Nimbus Group in 2008), and concurrently, Viitala also had a hand in XO Boat, later sold to another Finnish company. The final step was Aquador, which he had been involved with since 1995. After this, Viitala had all the elements to create his own boat: the A-XO-PAR.
