HOTEL LA MAMOUNI A, MARRAKECH

Alfred Hitchcock scelse le atmosfere ovattate e misteriose dell'Hotel La Mamounia di Marrakech per l'incipit soft de L'Uomo che sapeva troppo (1956). L'incontro tra i coniugi McKenna (James Stewart e Doris Day, in foto) e i Drayton, una coppia di turisti inglesi, fa da prologo allo scatenarsi di colpi di scena in una trama dall'eccezionale suspence.

Alfred Hitchcock chose the hushed and mysterious atmosphere of Hotel La Mamounia in Marrakech for the soft incipit of The Man who knew too much (1956). The meeting between the spouses McKenna (James Stewart and Doris Day, in the photo) and the Draytons, a couple of English tourists, acts as a prologue to the dramatic turn of events in a plot of exceptional suspense.

A metà tra il grande hotel cittadino e quello di villeggiatura, il Regina Palace di Stresa fu inaugurato nel 1908, esempio magnifico di architettura Liberty. Ha avuto per ospiti celebrità come Ernest Hemingway, George Bernard Shaw ed Eleonora Duse. Nel 1982, appena restaurato, fu il set del film corale Grand Hotel Excelsior di Castellano e Pipolo, con Adriano Celentano nel ruolo, improbabile e perciò comicissimo, di Taddeus, direttore dell'albergo (a lato). E con Diego Abatantuono, Carlo Verdone, Enrico Montesano.

Halfway between a large city hotel and the typical resort hotel, the Regina Palace in Stresa was inaugurated in 1908, as a magnificent example of Liberty architecture. It has boasted celebrity guests including Ernest Hemingway, George Bernard Shaw and Eleonora Duse. In 1982, just restored, it was the set of the choral film Grand Hotel Excelsior by Castellano and Pipolo, starring Adriano Celentano in the unlikely and therefore very comic role of Taddeus, the hotel manager (side photo).
