Non è in centro città, ma Firenze la domina, dall’altura del Parco
di Monte Ceceri, proprio là dove Zoroastro da Peretola, munito delle ali costruite da Leonardo da Vinci, spiccò il primo volo umano della storia. Ricavato in un ex monastero del XV secolo e circondato da giardini all’italiana che spaziano verso un infinito di colline, il Belmond Villa San Michele è un mondo a sé. La facciata è attribuita a un altro genio del Rinascimento, Michelangelo, e questo già basterebbe a farne una destinazione privilegiata. Ma poi, entrando, si scopre che le opere d’arte sono ovunque. Nella Michelangelo Suite, per esempio, che si sviluppa lungo l’intera lunghezza dell’edificio. Si tratta dell’ex
biblioteca dei monaci, che per qualche
tempo fu anche il quartier generale di Napoleone Bonaparte. Niente male per chi è in cerca di un soggiorno speciale, anche se a dire il vero, ogni camera, ogni ambiente ha la sua storia particolare. La Donatello Suite è l’ex ufficio del priore,
mentre la Limonaia Suite e Villa è in realtà l’antica orangerie, con giardino e piscina privati e una vista da togliere il fiato. La vista è una costante qui, per le
45 camere e suite, e per il Ristorante La Loggia, rinomato appunto per i panorami spettacolari, incorniciati dagli archi dell’antico chiostro, oltre che per la cucina ispirata alla tradizione toscana.
Per apprezzarla al meglio, e magari riprodurla anche a casa propria, si può approfittare del soggiorno per prendere parte a una delle cooking class che l’Executive Chef Alessandro Cozzolino svolge presso la rinomata Scuola di Cu
cina. Se invece il desiderio è di imparare o migliorare lo yoga, ci pensa il concierge, organizzando una lezione privata. Molte anche le esperienze uniche organizzate a richiesta, come lo Street Art Tour, un percorso a piedi o in bicicletta per le vie di Firenze alla ricerca di interventi di street artists locali.
