Fifty steps from Via Tornabuoni and you will enter the Fifties. Walking past Palazzo Spini Feroni, where Salvatore Ferragamo Maison is headquartered. A physical and ideal link between the fashiondistrict of the Tuscan capital and Portrait Firenze, whose atmospheres evoke the charm of that magical era that saw the birth of the very concept of Italian Style. This is one of the six prop-erties of LungarnoCollection – a hôtellerie group owned by the Ferragamo Family, which also includes Portrait Roma, as of 2020 Portrait Milano, as well as the Hotel Lungarno, Continentale and Gallery Hotel Art in Florence – and it pays homage to the style and elegance of the Fabulous Fifties, through a photographic journey that develops on all six floors. Maria Callas’s, Franco Zeffirelli’s, Anna Magnani’s and Sophia Loren’s portraits alternate with the views of the most iconic places in the city and the archive images that portray the fashion designer alongside some “colleagues” like Christian Dior and Elsa Schiaparelli. spaces and decor bear the unmistakable imprint by architect Michele Bönan, linear and measured, and at the same time sought after and with an aristocratic touch. In a word, harmonious. Everything is played on contrast shiny and opaque gray shades, dark brown wood and fabrics, among which steel and golden metal stand out.
The atmosphere of Caffè d’Oro is more dynamic and casual, as in a bistro, and so is the “comfort zone” menu for the lovers of regional cuisine and especially that of Italian Tuscan tradition. Without forgetting creativity, which here belongs to the DNA of the house.
