Oggi, grazie a
Come

From the most beautiful beaches of the Adriatic Sea to the
peaks of the Apennines, passing through paths, places of worship, caves and much more. The Marche is a rich and authentic land, “contaminated” just enough to offer tourists absolutely unforgettable experiences. Today, thanks to Marche Outdoor, the project launched in 2019 by the Region and dedicated to bike lovers, it is possible to access a network of 24 cycle routes organized in rings, which can be consulted through the website marcheoutdoor.it and related app, where you will also find information on the specialized facilities and activities to do along the routes. A project tailored for cyclists, from beginners to professionals. Just like Vincenzo Nibali, one of the most successful cyclists ever, whose destiny is linked to Le Marche by a special bond, as deep as friendship and as pure as sport. The Marche Region has chosen him as the testimonial of Marche Outdoor to promote, in the next two years, bike and outdoor tourism, a sector with great potential, also thanks to a perfect territory for those who love experiencing the landscape slowly. Vincenzo Nibali and the Marche, a bond that goes far beyond the role of testimonial. How was your relationship with this region born? “In my life as a cyclist I have trained and raced many times in the Marche; its territory is unique: a perfect combination of sea and mountains, hills and plains. It allows you to enjoy breathtaking views while training or walking. During the shooting for the commercials I had the opportunity to visit many places: hills, vineyards, wineries ... all perfect in every detail. Including the hospitality reserved to us. People are very friendly; they welcome you with a smile and immediately put guests at ease. A special place that struck me is the Conero and Sirolo area, where mountains and sea blend together”. In Lonely Planet’s ‘Best in travel 2020’ guide, the description of Le Marche begins as follows: “The outsider seems to be finally ready to take center stage”. A good reason to visit Le Marche? “Since it is a region rich in tradition, and traditions link us all to the land where we were born. Authenticity and confidentiality mix with hospitality and genuineness in this beautiful land” . A cyclist who promotes slow tourism, a nice paradox. Do you feel familiar with this kind of approach to tourism? And what can be done to improve the outdoor experience of tourists and sports enthusiasts? “Such an approach really suits me, since I spend many hours on my bike and, during training when the pace is not high, I love discovering small details that the landscape around me offers to my eyes. To improve this kind of approach it would be necessary to have a greater number of continuous cycle trails”. Bicycle reduces the impact both on a large scale (zero emissions) and on a small scale (no noise, exhausts, road wear). Is bicycle the vehicle of the future? “Bicycle is the vehicle of the past, present and future. It brings distant places closer together through the cyclist’s strength. But it is thanks to its “green” feature, that this means of transport is so special and helps to preserve our Planet”. ◆
