Il 27 luglio del 1921, circa 10 mila persone giunsero a Macerata per assistere all’Aida di Verdi, rappresentata per la prima volta nello Sferisterio. Inaugurata nel 1829 per ospitare gare sportive e feste, questa straordinaria quinta teatrale neoclassica fa oggi da sfondo al Macerata Opera Festival.
