I’ve never liked straight roads. Probably because I grew up up in the Apennines where I soon got used to passes and ridges, but only few things are able to relax me more than driving on a series of hairpin bends, safely and calmly, enjoying the view.

There is another Italy that escapes the network of highways and railways, as well as airports. It is the part of Italy which boasts perched villages, mountain passes, cliffs, and is crossed by twenty panoramic roads one per Region, all easily reachable from the nearest city, all perfect for a weekend or just a day off that we propose you in this special issue, created in collaboration with Jaguar-Land Rover.

The good thing of staying away from tracks and toll booths is that you can get anywhere, with whoever you want (which is not irrelevant, in times of social distancing), leave and return whenever you want, stop where you prefer, change your itinerary if you like, improvise, take your time for a walk, a ride, or one of the visits and pampering that we recommend.

And if you get lost, so much the better. Have a nice road trip.
