Two major events, the Art Biennale in Venice and Design Week in Milan, plus a must-see exhibition at la Rinascente, are scheduled to kick off in April and May. Those participating in the historic Mille Miglia race will have a chance to view the beauties of the Italian landscape from the windows of their vintage cars.
MILAN MILAN CAPITAL OF THE DESIGN NATION
In April, the Salone del Mobile (Furniture Fair) and the Fuorisalone (off-site events) define Milan’s Design Week, a preview of the innovations and trends for the coming year. The city’s streets and squares are inundated with events, exhibitions and presentations that draw hundreds of thousands of aficionados, tourists, professionals and designers. This and more is ‘the Salone’: the place to be!
The 57th Furniture Fair encompass 5 different shows including the Salone Internazionale del Mobile, the Salone del Complemento d’Arredo, the bi-annual Euroluce and Workplace3.0 events and the Salone Satellite, dedicated to young designers.
The ‘Fuorisalone’ comprises a series of happenings and exhibitions, but also performances, works of art and installations that animate the city and act as a corollary to the Salone del Mobile. Its three main locations include the Brera Design District, Tortona Around Design and Ventura Lambrate, plus new Ventura Centrale and the Isola Design District.
