Inspired by the sounds that animated the vast space of the Baths of Caracalla in the 3rd century AD, American musician and composer Alvin Curran has developed a site-specific project comprising different types of sounds including animal noises, running water, fragments of human voices speaking in Latin and texts from ancient Roman poets. His project has transformed the Frigidarium into a sound installation originating from all parts of the world and from all directions. The audio experience has been designed to surprise visitors, with 2-3 minutes of silent intervals .
