When you think about shopping in the Amalfi coast, one thing comes to mind right away: Positano swimwear fashion. An unmistakable style, famous all over the world. You will find dozens of elegant and gaudy dresses decorated with floral prints in the boutiques of via Pasitea, via dei Mulini, via Colombo and via Marconi. But you will also find bathing suits, with turquoise stones and corals, bags and sarongs. Positano also boasts a very long tradition of handmade sandals decorated by artisans on the spot with beads, stones and glitters.
Amalfi, on the other hand, is renowned for its hand – crafted paper, so much so that a museum has been dedicated to it. This type of paper, also known as Charta Bambagina, is particularly fine and it has been produced in the Campanian city since the Middle Ages. Vietri sul mare is known throughout the world for its colorful ceramics. All of the houses and the venues in the city are decorated with hand painted ceramics, including the dome of San Giovanni Battista Church. There are countless laboratories dedicated to this production, many of them can be found in Corso Umberto. Now let’s move on to the Sorrento coast. Sorrento is renowned for the art of wood inlay. Many are the artisans’ workshops that are still dedicated to this ancient activity. You can find handmade sandals
in Sorrento as well, even though they are not as famous as the ones made in Positano. You just have to choose the laces, decorations and heels. The shoemaker will take measurements and hand over your shoes within an hour. The best shops are found in Piazza Tasso and
Corso Italia.
Quando si pensa allo shopping in Costiera Amalfitana viene subito alla mente la moda mare Positano. Uno stile inconfondibile, famoso in tutto il mondo. Troverete decine di eleganti e sgargianti vestiti decorati con disegni floreali nelle boutique di Via Pasitea, via dei Mulini, via Colombo e via Marconi. Ma anche costumi da bagno, con turchesi e coralli, borse e parei. Positano vanta anche un’antichissima tradizione dei sandali in cuoio fatti a mano e decorati al momento dagli artigiani con perline, pietre dure e brillantini.
Amalfi è invece famosa per la carta lavorata a mano, tanto da averle dedicato un museo. Detta anche Charta Bambagina, è particolarmente pregiata e prodotta nella città campana fin dal Medioevo.
Vietri sul mare è celebre in tutto il mondo per le sue coloratissime ceramiche. Le case e i locali del paese sono decorati con ceramiche dipinte a mano, persino la cupola della chiesa di San Giovanni Battista. Tantissimi i laboratori dedicati, soprattutto su Corso Umberto. Spostiamoci nella Penisola sorrentina. Sorrento è famosa per l’arte dell’intarsio del legno. Sono tantissime le botteghe artigiane che si dedicano ancora a questa antica attività. Anche a Sorrento potrete trovare i sandali fatti a mano, anche se meno famosi di quelli di Positano. Basterà scegliere i lacci, le decorazioni e il tacco. Il calzolaio vi prenderà la misura del piede e, nel giro di un’ora, vi consegnerà le scarpe. I negozi più belli sono a Piazza Tasso e in Corso Italia.
