Royal Huisman ha recentemente presentato il concept di Wing 100, un superyacht lungo quasi 100 metri, che ridefinisce l’idea stessa di megayacht a vela. Nato da un team d’eccezione composto da Royal Huisman, Dykstra Naval Architects e Mark Whiteley Design, l’innovativo Wing 100, con scafo in alluminio, è un vero yacht a vela, non un pesante yacht a motore a vela assistita, ma con un’importante differenza. Può essere timonato in modo semplice e sicuro e le sue vele possono essere facilmente spiegate. Wing 100 è stato infatti concepito non solo per gli armatori di barche a vela, ma anche per offrire un perfetto cross-over agli armatori di barche a motore che desiderano minimizzare l’impatto ambientale riducendo il peso della propria imbarcazione, pur mantenendo i più elevati standard di comfort e amenità. Questi vantaggi - e molti altri - derivano dal fatto che Wing 100 non è un “normale” yacht a vela sovradimensionato: è dotato di un armo altamente avanzato realizzato da Rondal. Gli alberi alari sono liberi e ruotano per fornire profili alari molto potenti e integrati con le vele. La forma del profilo alare può essere regolata facilmente e a distanza per massimizzare o ridurre la potenza. Essendo autoportanti, gli alberi alari non hanno sartiame o ingombri in coperta, massimizzando lo spazio sul ponte. Con la sua costruzione, questo progetto entrerebbe nella top 10 mondiale degli yacht a vela di grandi dimensioni”.
