The Costa Smeralda is shining once more

New attractions and sporting events. Armani opens on the Porto Cervo promenade. Overseas visitors are back and the season has been extended

“A different sunset every night for the whole summer”, explains Adriano Malu, chief of Hotel Pitrizza Bar, one of the “pearls” of Smeralda Holding (controlled by Qatar Holding), a five-star Luxury Collection Hotel where simply spending the day having lunch, on the beach and in the pool is an unforgettable experience in itself. Nestled between the rocks and flowers of the Mediterranean scrub, Hotel Pitrizza has recently expanded to include 6 villas and 9 unique suites with private pool. Welcome to the Costa Smeralda and to the region of Gallura in general, whose magical enchantment grows stronger with each visit. On 16 June, the new Giorgio Armani boutique officially opened on the Porto Cervo promenade in the former Versace store, in one of the town’s most strategic locations. Olbia airport has also sprung back into

life and is once again welcoming tourists from overseas. “After a long period of enforced restrictions due to the pandemic, Arzachena and the Costa Smeralda have started to invest in events once more, particularly sporting events (sailing, triathlon, polo, golf), and are aiming to broaden their range of services and attractions,” Roberto Ragnedda, mayor of Arzachena and joint leader of the Consortium founded over 50 years ago, enthusiastically explains. North Sardinia is becoming the island of sport and major events, already planned by Gianni Chessa, regional Councillor for Tourism, back in 2019 before the pandemic, on which the revival of the whole of Sardinia depends. For example, Olbia shall play host to the Aquabike World Championship in September. “We are starting the season with a more optimistic approach and hope to remain open until 20 October,” declares Franco Mulas, Costa Smeralda Area Manager and Hotel Cala di Volpe General Manager, in an interview with Ville&Casali.
