SUNSET ON THE EGADI ISLANDS

A SPLENDID TASTEFULLY RESTORED FARMHOUSE WITH SWIMMING POOL IN THE MOST WESTERN PART OF SICILY

-

In the city of salt and wind, a corner of uncontaminated nature finds its home among the ancient salt pans of Trapani which have existed here since the 12th century and since 1995 are managed as a WWF nature reserve. An area of special interest for birdwatchers, the salt pans are an important stopping place for many species of birds during spring and autumn migration.

These include the splendid pink flamingoes that begin arriving here in April. In this unique panorama made of windmills, stretches of water and salt mounds, an ancient 1900s farmhouse dominates the coast with views out to the magnificent Egadi Islands, paradisical corners of the province’s natural patrimony.

The well cared for garden of 1.500 sqm holds local plants and a 50 sqm swimming pool of regular shape. The 340 sqm residence contains a striking mix of modern and traditional architecture. The entrance leads to a large open-space living area with four metre high ceilings, exposed beams of the original structure while a modern resin and cement floor links the rooms guiding us towards a spacious living area, a large modern kitchen and the sleeping area.

There are four master bedrooms, some with direct access to the garden and all with ensuite baths decorated with local marble. On the upper level a suite with a bath, walk-in closet and large terrace for enjoying the splendid sunsets in complete privacy. The property is ready for the installation of an alarm system and is equipped with modern technologies for comfort and security: AC in all the rooms, a solar panel system for heating water, and closed circuit TV.
