The red metal and oak are the natural materials that inspired Spanish designer Susanna Cots in her restoration of a villa in Catalonia Spanish interior designer Susanna Cots (www.susannacots.com) has renovated a 250 sqm two-story villa situated in the heart of the Costa Brava. Copper House, as it is known, is made up of functional and comfortable spaces created by a blend of timeless furnishings and the colours of nature, perfect for slowing down the hectic pace of life. Every sophisticated detail has been carefully thought through, while the materials, textures and natural colours work together in perfect harmony. From the moment you enter on the ground floor, which has been completely redesigned compared to the original blueprint, you are struck by the mix between copper and its earthy tones, oak and the colour white used to balance the other colours. As the designer explains, “I wanted to maintain visual continuity so that each space can be experienced in a continuous way. As such, the interior and exterior are always connected regardless of the season, which is no more apparent than in the dining room. Positioned under a skylight, it has direct access to the garden to host lunches and dinners with friends.” All the living areas are framed by copper sheets that help to zone yet also integrate the different spaces to create a harmonious sensory journey. Both the stairs and the two bedroom suites showcase the elegance of the wood, which is primarily used on the first floor. In the generous bedroom, the oak floor creeps up the walls and creates a warm accent next to the fireplace.
