Two French designers from design studio Le Berre Vevaud seamlessly bring together Art Deco furnishings, pure architectural lines and sophisticated materials With its romantic Parc Monceau commissioned by Baron Haussmann, Plaine Monceau, the 17th arrondissement, is one of Paris’ most elegant districts. It is here that Le Berre Vevaud, an interior architecture and design studio founded in 2008 by Raphaël Le Berre and Thomas Vevaud, oversaw the total renovation and interior design of a 225-square metre Haussmanian apartment. The aim was to create a more fluid and sociable layout for a family with children who love to socialise. Several partition walls were removed to create a large living area with adjacent kitchen, while the size of the entrance hall was reduced to create a spacious room for the children. The style of Le Berre Vevaud is best expressed in the interior design: a minimalist look with nods to the Memphis movement and 20th-century trends, and a touch of exuberance in the choice of high-end materials and bold colours, which explode in dynamic forms. Art Deco furnishings, pure architectural lines and sophisticated materials blend seamlessly in the great structural shell that retains and shows off several original 19th-century features, from the wall panelling to the wrought iron balconies, from the fine stucco on the ceiling to the herringbone parquet flooring. The classic layout of the apartment has been played down by innovative design solutions, such as flat rectangles of colour hanging on parts of the wall and furniture boasting unexpected and sensual shapes.
