“Wisdom, Love, Compassion and Joy” is written in big letters on the walls of Shamballa Jewels’ headquarters: these words welcome the passionate customers, and stand as a reminder of the virtues that inspire the brand’s philosophy. Founded in 2005 by brothers Mads and Mikkel Kornerup, SHAMBALLA JEWELS was born out of a desire to create fine jewelry that is more than just precious objects. Named after the mythical Himalayan kingdom of Shamballa, the brand is an intriguing union between ancient Eastern philosophy and Nordic design traditions. Furthermore, its founders abide to ancient Buddhist philosophies in the way they handle business and always consider the environment in their decision-making and production process. Originally designed for men, the brand specializes in custom-made pieces and bespoke hand-braided bracelets using only the finest materials, gold in different colors, and a wide range of fascinating gemstones. One of their latest designs, the Flip Cuff, won Best Men’s Jewelry Piece at the Couture show in Las Vegas, as proof of Shamballa Jewels’ ever-growing relevance in a fiercely competitive market. The two creative brothers continue to challenge the norm within the industry, working only with suppliers who are part of the Kimberley Agreement and Responsible Jewelry Council, and having long stopped corals in their designs. With CSR-related initiatives high on their agenda, Shamballa Jewels want to make a difference by helping heal the planet’s wounds. For the Protagonist initiative, the brand presents a unique piece of luxury jewelry, a 100% conflict-free diamond set in recycled gold, demonstrating that excellence and creativity can thrive while being responsible. All Shamballa Jewels sustainable pieces are available exclusively in their flagship stores in New York and Copenhagen.
