Bohemian party
It is quite common for British couples to choose to get married in Tuscany. However, opting for Villa Lena – an avant-garde agriturismo with a biodynamic farm, accommodations, a restaurant and a non-profit art foundation – as the venue is certainly less conventional. Gemma Boner, membership director for Soho House, and Thom Scherdel, a senior buyer for Browns, chose to celebrate their wedding here with a weekend event focused on fun and relaxation in the idyllic Tuscan hills but with the bohemian feel of Villa Lena (villalena.it). Most of the ingredients for the meals offered were farm-to-table, and the vibe was English creativity takes on Tuscany, from the welcome event to the ‘‘til Death Do Us Party.’ It was a relaxed event that celebrated nature. “I did my own hair and make-up,” said Gemma. “I wanted a natural look that didn’t make me look too different from how I am every day. The only thing I changed in my beauty routine was adding lipstick!”
