Milano Moda Graduate 2019
The winners of the fifth edition of the initiative conceived by the National Chamber of Italian Fashion.
The event that brings the best talents from Italian fashion schools onto the catwalk has made its yearly return. In fact, this past June 14th the winners of the 5th edition of Milano Moda Graduate, the initiative conceived by the National Chamber of Italian Fashion in 2015, were announced. The jury, chaired by Angela Missoni and made up of leading international professionals from the sector, gave Francesco Murano (IED Moda Milano) the National Chamber of Italian Fashion Award, which includes financial support for his professional development. John Lloyd Palomares (NABA, Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti), on the other hand, won the award given out by YKK Italia, the main partner of the event that was held at Base Milano, which includes a cash prize and the chance to take part in a workshop in the company’s Japanese headquarters. Vogue Talents recognised Ottavia Molinari (Istituto Marangoni), who will feature in an editorial published in Vogue Italia. Finally, Confartigianato selected Veronica Cascella (IUAD, Accademia della Moda) for its special mention dedicated to the best project. Being a finalist at Milano Moda Graduate does not, however, just mean showing. The project also allows participants to receive advice from renowned personalities and to access exclusive activities. The designers visited major textile companies like Albini Group, Taroni, Clerici Tessuto and Limonta, learned about the world of the zipper closure with YKK Italia, had access to the Armani Privé couture atelier, let their creativity run wild using watercolors at the School of Applied Arts of the Castello Sforzesco, and took part in a workshop held by Instragram/ Facebook Italia, social media partner of the event. Thus Milano Moda Graduate affirmed itself as a moment of connection between the world of schools and the realities of work.
