Doubly justifying the headline, any hint of causal overlap between gaming and combat pants is, like, dead. Yes sure there are loads of combat pants in games and gaming, because war is a gaming staple. And I suppose if you’re using a Switch or something handheld you can stash your hardware in your leg wear. But really the presence of combat pants here is reflective of a broader dodgy dichotomy characterising gaming as ‘informal’ and chess ‘formal’. Gaming is super-formal in its tolerated behaviours and forms of practice – newb gonna get killed fast – and personally I think the so-called hierarchy of clothing defined be perceived ‘formality’ is anachronistic and not fit for contemporary purpose. Just saying. Also, sweet combats pants – great for Fishing Simulator.
