MAXIMILIAN
Maximilian Davis UK
“I decided to establish Maximilian to present my personal vision of black elegance. Most of my designs are genderless, with many styles crossing over between men’s and women’s. My garments are a celebration of individuality and the freedom to be and express yourself. Tailoring and eveningwear inspired by my Trinidadian roots have a crucial role in my world, and I really like working with silks and bonding or fusing fabrics to give the pieces more structure.”
“Music has a huge influence on my creativity. The first collection also drew inspiration from the Trinidad Carnival and my holiday there. For the second season I delved into family snapshots
from the ’60s and ’70s, as well as fashion photography from those decades. A sense of family is a big part of my project. I got into this business thanks to my relatives, especially my grandmother who taught me how to sew. When I’m designing I always think of my mother
and my sisters, and my friends too.”
