“I work with the brown colour spectrum, using shades that I can also find on my body and on the skin of my family. I adore textures that illustrate how I feel: warmth with my jerseys, strength with my vegan leathers, fluidity and agility with my towelling, structure with my canvas, and so on. My shapes come directly from my heart, conveying freedom through gentle lines and curves that evoke water. I contrast this with heavy gathering and by emphasising areas of the body that I’d like to cherish.”

“Selasi is a Ghanaian name traditionally meaning ‘God hears me’, but to me it has so much significance. It’s a name that can’t be mumbled because its pronunciation takes thought, yet it sounds as smooth as a gentle breeze. For my brand, this means being purposeful yet tender, considering the soul before anything else, exploring and appreciating the depth of my skin to understand that brown is a colour as full as it is heavy. Selasi is about finding comfort in standing up firmly, with steady footing on uneven ground, inspired by a history that’s as rich as the tones we wear. My spirit carries the legacy of those who came before me, and I respect the power of this knowledge that flows through me.”
