HOW TO GET THERE
>> On foot. from the station of piazza Garibaldi, take the Circumvesuviana travelling in the direction of Sorrento and alight at the Ercolano stop; from here take the Vesuviana Mobilità bus which travels up to an altitude of 1,000 metres. >> By car. Autostrada A3 Salerno- Reggio Calabria, Ercolano exit. Take the road leading to the summit of Vesuvius. Just a few kilometres from the Osservatorio Vesuviano ( built by Ferdinando II of Bourbon in 1845), at the crossroads, take the street on the left. After 12 km you will find yourselves at an altitude of 1,017 metres. From this point, you can walk up the trail leading to the crater. The walk generally takes about 20 minutes on foot.
