>> On foot. from the sta­tion of pi­azza Garibaldi, take the Cir­cum­vesu­viana trav­el­ling in the di­rec­tion of Sor­rento and alight at the Er­colano stop; from here take the Ve­su­viana Mo­bil­ità bus which trav­els up to an al­ti­tude of 1,000 me­tres. >> By car. Au­tostrada A3 Salerno- Reg­gio Cal­abria, Er­colano exit. Take the road lead­ing to the sum­mit of Ve­su­vius. Just a few kilo­me­tres from the Osser­va­to­rio Ve­su­viano ( built by Fer­di­nando II of Bour­bon in 1845), at the cross­roads, take the street on the left. After 12 km you will find your­selves at an al­ti­tude of 1,017 me­tres. From this point, you can walk up the trail lead­ing to the crater. The walk gen­er­ally takes about 20 min­utes on foot.
