Main museum attractions and must- see exhibitions in Naples and on the Coast & Islands
Twenty interactive installations that highlight the most significant aspects of daily life in Pompeii and Herculaneum prior to the eruption of Vesuvius in 79 A. D. Visitors can admire faithful reproductions of the Forum of Pompeii, the Thermal Baths and the Theatre of Herculaneum, still buried beneath the modern city. The exhibition will also feature virtual representations of the House of the Tragic Poet, the House of the Zither Player, the House of the Fawn, and that of the Labyrinth, several of the finest examples of Roman houses that can be viewed at Pompeii. The exhibition will be held at Villa Regina, in Boscoreale, a Roman farmhouse once used to produce wine. In addition to eighteen large underground containers used to store must, this arresting villa boasts specific areas dedicated to the activities that once took place within it. Today, the site also includes a vast archaeological area recently redeveloped by the Municipality of Boscoreale. The exhibition is curated by Fondazione Cives Mav, the Virtual Archaeological Museum of Herculaneum which, thanks to initiatives of this nature, intends to focus on promoting the vast archaeological heritage of the Vesuvius area by also promoting sites like Villa Regina. Until 25 January. Mon- Fri from 10am to 1pm; Sat/ Sun from 10am to 3pm. Admission free. >> www. mav. it Villa Regina. Via Le Corbusier, Boscoreale, Naples. T: 0819575347
