The di­verse en­vi­ron­ment of the Park has con­trib­uted to cre­at­ing a sig­nif­i­cant va­ri­ety of high-qual­ity, lo­cal prod­ucts. Among the best known pro­duce are the Pi­en­nolo toma­toes of Vesuvius, Lacryma Christi wine, Ve­su­vian apri­cots, honey, Nocillo, a liqueur made from alcohol and green wal­nuts, Cata­lanesca grapes and cher­ries, mostly grown at the foot of Mount Somma. The Ve­su­vian area is par­tic­u­larly renowned for the pro­duc­tion of cooked wheat ‘pastiera’, bread and pasta as well as the pro­cess­ing of dried and salted cod­fish.
