An ex­hi­bi­tion at the La­ce Mu­seum in Burano tells the story of the bir­th and evo­lu­tion of the La­ce School (1872-1970), whi­ch rea­ched its pin­na­cle of splen­dour at the end of the 18th cen­tu­ry un­der the pa­tro­na­ge of Queen Mar­ghe­ri­ta of Sa­voy. This ac­ti­vi­ty was han­ded do­wn by the wo­men of Burano from ge­ne­ra­tion to ge­ne­ra­tion and is still prac­ti­ced to­day wi­th lo­ve and de­di­ca­tion by the island's la­ce ma­kers. The col­lec­tion sho­w­ca­sed at the mu­seum of Burano's hi­sto­ric La­ce School fea­tu­res 200 ex­qui­si­te items, the ol­de­st of whi­ch da­te back to the 16th cen­tu­ry.
