CREATING MASTERPIECES WITH LACE
An exhibition at the Lace Museum in Burano tells the story of the birth and evolution of the Lace School (1872-1970), which reached its pinnacle of splendour at the end of the 18th century under the patronage of Queen Margherita of Savoy. This activity was handed down by the women of Burano from generation to generation and is still practiced today with love and dedication by the island's lace makers. The collection showcased at the museum of Burano's historic Lace School features 200 exquisite items, the oldest of which date back to the 16th century.
