VANESSA Bling was in the spotlight Tuesday evening at Tracks and Records in St Andrew where her EP, Still Standing, was launched. Family, friends and media attended the event.

A video for Still Standing’s lead song, 10 Bags, was also shown.

Still Standing was released September 18 by En-treeg Records/outta Space Entertainm­ent. It also contains Freedom, What to Do, Bad Mon, Real Love, and Broken Heart.

“The EP is all about Vanessa Bling. I’m so excited to give the fans this EP because it’s something different and something that the fans won’t expect,” the artiste who was born Vanessa Sadler, said in an interview with Jamaica Observer’s weekly Splash.

She revealed “The title was inspired by the experience­s that I have been through. I have been through a lot and I am still here standing.” Still Standing is her third EP. The first, Adidjaheim Records Presents Introducin­g Vanessa Bling As Gaza Slim, came out in 2011.

A second EP, Gaza Slim, produced by So Unique Records, was released in 2013.

Vanessa Bling, formerly known as Gaza Slim, was once a member of Vybz Kartel’s infamous Portmore Empire crew. In 2011, she spent more than one month at the Central Village Police Station and

Fort Augusta Adult Correction­al Facility after being charged with attempting to pervert the course of justice in Kartel’s murder trial. In 2014, Kartel was sentenced to life imprisonme­nt for the 2011 murder of Clive “Lizard” Williams.
