Naazir speaks from the heart
Westmoreland singjay naazir is hailing the gains made by the Government’s Zone of special operations (Zoso) and state of Public emergency (soe) in reducing crime. However, he believes that some social intervention must be included, as this is the only way to get sustaining results.
“ZOSO without a social change in the minds of the people is a ‘no no’. Once it ends, the violence and foolishness is going to start up again, the people need a better way,” he said. “To tell you the truth, the Government can’t do ZOSO forever, so an effort must be made to show people a different way with social programmes, jobs, and create other opportunities for them to earn so young people don’t turn to crime.”
Recently Minister of National Security Dr Horace Chang reported during his contribution to the 2018/19 Sectoral Debate that the operational activities associated with the enhanced security measures in sections of St James, west Kingston and St Catherine have resulted in significant crime reduction in those areas.
Naazir (given name Oshane Mckray) is currently promoting Mi Darlin’ and Real G, both produced by Team Steel Record. He said the latter is from is heart.
“Westmoreland is my parish and most of the youths them weh a dead today, me and most of them grow together and go school together. Mi lose family members as well, and why, because of money. Ah just money change up the youth them, money not put to proper use bring jealousy, bad mind, hate, greed grudge, and red eye. We need more life, more love, more respect and less hype,” he said. “I’m bringing something different to the business. I sing about real topics. I sing reality and focus on the things I know about. When the people hear my music, they can tell it is real and it is from the heart, and there’s also a lot of passion in my music, too.”
