TIERS TO LIFE

A full house of friends, family, and friends-who-became-family showed up at the Terra Nova All-suite Hotel last Friday to celebrate George ‘King George’ Jograj at his retirement party. Jograj, who built his version of the American Dream after migrating to New York City circa ’65, is a war hero-turned-businessman and an affable ladies’ man. At this juncture, however, he only has eyes for one: Ingrid Rattray, the woman who encouraged his retirement, and was later tasked with planning his retirement party. The Kingston College alum was also thrilled with the Manning Cup win last Friday, which was the icing on his Selena Wong-designed retirement cake. LOVERS’ LOCK

Ahead of guests’ arrival, retired businessman George ‘King George’ Jograj and his belle Ingrid Rattray locked eyes in a loving embrace. The Selena Wong-crafted light fruitcake featured a tier for each milestone in King George’s professional life representing the past: his 101st Airborne Division patch from his time in the Vietnam War; the present: original Mrs Maxwell’s Bakery logo, his proudest accomplishment to date; and his future: a life of retirement spent on the high seas with his companion.

MEN OF DISTINCTION

Monte Blake (left), selector of one of the oldest sound systems Merritone, no stranger to the Jograj family, showed up for the festivities.
