Canadian woman dies in accident

A Canadian woman died from injuries she sustained in a three-vehicle collision on Mandela Highway, near Ferry in St Catherine yesterday, police reported.

Two men were also injured in the incident.

The deceased has been identified as 26-year-old Tashana Cumbermack. Her address in Canada was not immediatel­y known.

Police investigat­ors said that about 5:50 am the driver of a Toyota Axio motor car, with three passengers aboard, lost control of the vehicle and collided with a Suzuki Vitara SUV. Allegation­s are that the Suzuki Vitara then collided with a Toyota Hiace bus, in which Cumbermack was a passenger.

The police were summoned and the driver of the Axio and one of his passengers, as well as Cumbermack were taken to hospital.

Cumbermack was subsequent­ly pronounced dead, while the men were admitted for treatment.

The police also reported yesterday that Rijorni Taylor, aged 12 of Friend- ship Pen in St Thomas, died from injuries he sustained when he was hit by a bus on the Springfiel­d main road in the parish on Friday.

The Morant Bay Police reported that about 9:15 pm, a Toyota Hiace bus was travelling towards Morant Bay when the driver lost control of the vehicle and collided into Rijorni, who was standing on the side of the road.

The police were summoned and Rijorni was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

suspected suicide in clarendon

The police in the central Jamaica parish of Clarendon suspect that an act of suicide was committed in the parish yesterday.

Nordia Markland, 29, of Shannon Lloyd Crescent in Clarendon was found dead at her home from an apparent act of suicide.

Police said that around 4:00 am, Markland was found hanging from a beam on the outside of her house. Law enforcers were summoned and the body was removed to the morgue. No marks of violence were observed.
