Issues with the SLB

-

Dear Claudienne

I am having an issue with the Student Loan Bureau(slb) that I’m hoping you can assist me to resolve.

My SLB account has been turned over to debt recovery.

I was told that in order to recover it, I would need to settle my arrears which they told me at the time (November, 2018) was $265,000.

I was told that the arrears could be paid through a standing order from the bank or through a salary deduction.

On November 13, 2018 I lodged $266,000 in an account at the bank and took a copy of the receipt for the amount to the SLB.

I explained to the customer service agent at the SLB that my workplace did not allow for salary deduction and that I could not do a standing order through the bank because I could not afford the monthly fee that the bank charged for the standing order.

The SLB agent assured me that my account would be recovered and I made a request for formal notification from the SLB that my account had been recovered.

I also notified my debt collector on November 14, 2018 that I had settled my arrears and she said she would put through the request for my account to be recovered.

Sometime has passed and even though I have sent her e-mails the debt collector has not informed me that my account has been recovered.

I also called the SLB and was told that my file with the details of my account was in the legal department. However, no one was available in the legal department to speak with me at the time.

I was given an e-mail address but when I sent my concerns to the e-mail address I learned that it did not exist.

Please, help me to resolve this matter before the SLB adds additional fees to my account.
