POLICE say two of the three murders committed in the Kingston Western Police Division since the start of the year have been cleared up, which means suspects have been arrested.

The murders occurred in Denham Town and an area called “Havana”.

The latest came hours before the state of public emergency ended in that section of the city on January 7, when 26year-old Adam Clarke, otherwise called Bigger, of Water Lane in downtown Kingston was shot.

The constabulary’s Corporate Communication Unit told the Jamaica Observer then that the police were summoned at approximately 9:20 pm by residents who heard explosions.

Clarke, who had multiple wounds, was taken to Kingston Public Hospital where he died while undergoing emergency surgery.

Acting senior superintendent in charge of the division, Howard Chambers told the Jamaica Observer on Friday that 23-year-old Ricardo Malcolm, otherwise known as Dragon, of Upper Rose Lane, Kingston 14, was arrested during a police operation and charged in connection with Clarke’s killing.

Malcolm is scheduled to appear in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court next week.

Police reported that Clarke was a pillion rider on a motorcycle near the intersection of Tulip Lane and Wellington Street at the time that the accused, who was part of a group, pulled a firearm and shot him in the abdomen and lower right arm. He subsequently fell from the motorcycle at the intersection of North Street and Bread Lane.

Meanwhile, another man accused of another murder in Kingston Western is also set to appear before court next week. The police did not disclose his identity.
