Double standards!

What of China, Israel and the US?

-

Dear Editor,

The double standards of the Organization of American States (OAS) and US with regard to democracy has been exposed. If Venezuela’s Nicolas Maduro’s election was possibly illegitimate, what of a host of other recent examples?

But, given the concern expressed about the plight of the Venezuelan people at the hands of a purportedly oppressive and illegitimate Government, what therefore of the Andrew Holness Administration’s response to China’s persecution of its Muslim people, and the treatment of the Palestinians, especially in Gaza, by the Zionist Benjamin Netanyahu Government in Israel? Jamaica is currently ‘hugging up’ both of these countries, as well as the USA with its maltreatment of 800,000 government workers and all the people they are supposed to serve.

In China, up to a million Muslims have so far been forced into specially built ‘re-education’ camps, aka prisons. Ethnic and religious cleansing on this scale (or even at all) should surely be something for our Government to oppose on principle, regardless of economic cost. China is beginning to sound like Nazi Germany, and even the USA is taking note.

As for Gaza, no matter what the errors of the elected Hamas Government, the blockade by Israel is murderously inhumane. A baby died last week because an exit permit could not be procured from the Israelis.

Prime Minister Holness, Foreign Affairs Minister Senator Kamina Johnson Smith, I am waiting to hear from you on these matters.
