Let a woman speak again!

-

Dear Editor,

The message of the 2019 National Leadership Prayer Breakfast under the theme ‘I Pledge’ was given by a powerful woman of God — Rev Karen Kirlew. It was indeed a very good message for our leaders and also for the country on a whole. We should take that message very seriously and listen to it again and again.

The theme ‘I Pledge’ is like a call to an obligation of duty which ought to be taken seriously; a duty that carries a responsibility with full implications behind it. It should be a wake-up call for us.

Is it the first time we have had a female minister delivering a sermon at our National Leadership Prayer Breakfast?

Even if not, she came with a very good message. We say, Amen! And we thank God for Rev Kirlew.

At the next National Leadership Prayer Breakfast I would like another lady to give the message — if it be the will of God. And I would definitely like Minister Petrova Davis or Minister Evon Blair to be the 2020 National Leadership Prayer Breakfast speaker, or whichever female pastor God sees capable of doing the job.

Finally, I would like Prime Minister Andrew Holness and Opposition Leader Dr Peter Phillips to come together and make a pledge along with our national security minister to kill the gun trade. And also another pledge could be to monitor, thoroughly, our borders — ports (air, sea, etc) — to bar the arrival of illegal guns. Too many people have died and are dying from the gun.
