Supporting Mount James Basic

-

It is often said that the three main pillars of education are the church, the home and the school. So, for students at the Mount James Basic in St. Andrew, all pillars are aligning to offer them a great academic and social experience. The small rural school is the subsidiary of the Mount James Seventh-day Adventist Church, where children from the Mount James District have the chance to start their schooling in a comfortable and safe environment. With strong backing from the church and the community, this institution continues to foster young minds. Joining in the effort is also the N.C.B Foundation, which recently donated $150,000 toward initiatives at the school. Additionally, the Foundation presented tokens, such as pencils and books for the school’s growing tots. Now with funding to offset operational costs, lunch packages and other needs, the school can focus on providing a safer and more comfortable environment for its students to learn. At a handing over ceremony held recently, Lloyd Richardson, Branch Manager, NCB Banking & Financial Services Centre shared moments with Rev. Fr. Khan Honeyghan, pastor for the Mount James Seventh-day Adventist Church, the school’s parent entity. Accompanying Richardson was also Damian Sibblies, Business Development Officer, NCB, the school’s administrative and academic staff. A plaque was also installed at the school. The N.C.B. Foundation continues to support initiatives like these, which seek to improve the learning environment of the nation’s future leaders.
